Wednesday Elle's Studio Saying Good Bye

Happy Wednesday,

4 years ago my father passed away and I inherited his car.  It was a 1999 Lexus but when I got it it only had 28,000 miles on it.  It ran perfectly!  I so loved this car.  It was my first "luxury" item.  My dad was a HUGE golfer and in the back trunk he had several golf umbrellas and visors.  When I got it I just couldn't part with them and for 4 years I drove with these items and also his CD's in the car.  It still felt like HIS car.  Well, in June the car was having problems and the dealership said that it would cost more to repair than what it was worth.  So we decided to trade it in.  When we were leaving the house to trade the car in Jack asked me "Mom are you sad that you are getting rid of the car?"  and in that moment I realized that I was getting rid of the car AND my Dad in a way.  It always just felt like maybe he was still around because I had his things with me.  It still hurts to have lost him.  He was diagnosed with cancer in November and died just 4 months later.  So I wanted to do a layout about this experience.  It was really cathartic.  (I am sorry to be rather personal today on the blog but this layout means a whole lot to me! and I am VERY happy about it!)

This layout uses the April Paper Bakery Kit.  I used all the Elle's Studio components in the layout along with other odds n ends that I had in my stash from studio calico and Elle's Studio.

Right???  And finally I stamped my sentiment using one of the clear stamps from SOG! I think it she is just the cutest!!
Be sure to drop by the Some Odd Girl Shop and pick up Mae!  I think you will LOVE coloring her!

Today I have a new layout using some yummy Core Impressions.  I love this collection.  With this one there is a wood grain embossed on the 12x12 sheet. I also used another piece of the cardstock that has a light flower pattern.  I then cut some clouds using the Silhouette and then embossed those with an embossing folder and lightly sanded them.   I then used some yummy American Crafts papers, some flair, and wood veneer.

This photo was taken last summer when we all went to play Miniature Golf.  We all had som much fun and I got a photo of my 3 favorite guys!

When he didn't know I was taking the photo I smapped a quick instagram photo of him.  I love it when they don't know you are taking a photo. Don't you?

For my layout I used the Bowlers Up collection from Moxxie.  I fisrt made the background using the Silhoeutte and then I layered my pattern paper.  I added some washi tap, wood veneer and flair and called it a day!

Thursday Oh So Good

Happy Thursday!

So what have you been up to?  I was actually able to scrap a bit for myself last week!  I have been working hard these last couple of days on DT work but I am now taking a couple of days off!  I cleaned my scraproom from top to bottom so that when I get back to crafting next week sometime I will ready to go!!  I do this every couple of months -- I clean like crazy and then take a little break to recharge and then I come back ready to go.  This way I never get burnt out from my hobby.

So as I mentioned I did a little scrapping for myself last week.  I entered the Elle's Studio weekly challenge.  You can go here to see the details.  I broke out my Paper Bakery Kit from March and I made a layout about my favorite thing- Peanut butter and chocolate frozen yogurt.  I am totally addicted and I have to  have it at least once a week to get my fix! LOL!!  I used my silhouette to cut out the sunburst pattern and then used the negative space and backed it with Elle's Studio paper.  I then masked it off and misted my paper with some pink paint. ( I NEVER get to use the pink and it was soooo fun!).  Next I layered some file tabs and paper behind my photo. Finally I added some yummy pink twine from The Stringery!  I love how it turned out!  I didn't win the challenge but I had a ball making it!

Tuesday Core'dinations and Captain Jack

Happy Tuesday

I have a new Core'dinations project to share with you today.  When I was making this layout I wanted to get a bit messy.  I started with a piece of the Spotted cardstock from Core'dinations. I lightly sanded it to reveal the lighter blue.  I then broke out some paint and just painted it on the cardstock.  Core is awesome because it is a very strudy cardstock and it can handle the paint.  I then made some Slhouette nautical shapes while the paint was drying.  Core is so awesome in the Silhouette.  I then layered come pattern paper along with some of the core shapes.  I also added some of the smooth tags ( I have to say I am in LOVE with the tags!)

 cardstock- core'dinations
pattern paper, flair- fancy pants

Happy Friday!!

Today I am so excited because the over at Scrapbook Steals the deal of the day is AMAZING!!!  Can I say Echo Park and Christmas?????  Well, it is Christmas in July and the steal of the day is a paper and sticker collection that is OUT of this World!!!  In the collection you will receive TONS of Echo Park Christmas collections with coordinating stickers, journaling cards and paper!  I got to play with this collection last week and let me tell you was so much fun.

I created 4 projects with this kit and I could have make about 10 more projects easily.  There is so much stuff!  I made 2 layouts and 2 cards for you.  Here on my blog I will reveal 1 card and 1 layout and then you will have to pop over to the Scrapbook Steals sight to see the others.  So let's get to it!

My first card I used the Dots & Stripes collection.  I just love this collection because it is your basic collection pack and it works back to the other collections so beautifully.  I love it when things can coordinate from different collections.  I used the paper and coordinating stickers for my card.

For my second project I created a layout using the Merry Christmas collection.  In this layout I used the pattern paper and the stickers to create this clean and simple layout.  I love using the stickers because the are such a fun embellishment!

So now if you are getting in the mood for Christmas and you want to see more Christmas inspiration and you want to see more of this awesome kit - head on over to Scrapbook Steals and check it out.  I would love it if you could leave a little bit of love over there too if you have time!  ( They are on mountain time so if you head on over early it won't be up yet!)

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I will be back on Monday with a sneak peek at a new clear stamp set that is going to be released next week at CHA for Some Odd Girl!  Now that is fun!!  See you then.  Have a wonderful and crafty weekend!

Wednesday Imaginsice Designer Day

Happy Wednesday!

The assignment over at Imaginisce was to create a project that shows off your own personal style and highlight your favorite Imaginisce Tool.  This was very easy for me to pick my favorite tool because I am totally in love with the I Rock.  For the project I new I just had to make a layout with one of my favorite collections- Endless Summer!

For my layout I had a photo of Jack on our summer vacation last year.  He was so excited when we went on our daily walk on the beach and he found a coconut washed up on the beach.  He thought it was so cool and awesome!  So I wanted to highlight this photo with a fun frame.  I I also used one of the Snag'em stamps and colored the sun with my Spectrum Noir markers.  Using my Silhouette I cut out the waves and title.

I have a photo of my layout before I started adding the Glam Rocks.  I love my layout but I just love the added pop of the Glam Rocks when the are added to the page.
A close up now of the added Glam Rocks mixed in with the paint sprays.
A close up on how easy it is to use the I Rock tool.

Tuesday SOG Communtity Challenge Embossing Folders

Happy Tuesday!

Have you ever visited the Some Odd Girl Community?  It is a really awesome and fun place to hang out, chat with friends, see a ton of inspiration, watch videos and just have fun!  Well, each week there is a new challenge.  This week's challenge is to break out your embossing folders and create a project that uses them!

For my project I broke out my new embossing folder by Darice.  I thought the stars would just be so perfect for this little guy who is just ROCKIN'.  I used my Core'dinations Gemstones Assorted cardstock and ran it through the embossing folder.  I then pieced them together and lightly sanded the embossing.  I then adhered my SOG image and then stamped my sentiment.  Love how it turned out!!

Monday Core'dinations Be You

Happy Monday!

Did you have a nice weekend?  I did!  On Sunday I did something that I haven't done in AGES!  I went to Archiver's and met a friend and we scrapped the afternoon away!  It was so much fun!!  Loved every minute of it!

Core'dinations has some of the coolest cardstock ever!  One of those is the Tim Holtz Kraft - Core Seasonal Impressions.  I was blown away at how cool this paper was and how it totally made an awesome layout it minutes!

I used the Americana paper and added some Moxxie and I had the layout done!  For the cardstock I lightly sanded the embossed cardstock to reveal the core.  Next, I made a mat for my photo and scored the paper to create a frame and then lightly sanded it to expose the scoring.  I then layered my pattern paper and added my photo!  The cardstock totally makes this page.  I also cut part of the title using my Core and Silhouette! Lastly I added some wood veneer, a little bit of twine from The Stringery and a flair badge!

Friday Moxxie Sketch and Two Cards

Happy Friday!!

Today I have to share with you a card sketch I made for Moxxie.  The sketch is pretty basic and lends itself to a lot of different interpretations.

For my first card I made a baby card.  I just love the pink sky and clouds.  I used on of the die cuts as my sentiment and added some wood veneer for a quick and easy embellishment.

For my next card I used an older collection from Moxxie and made a 4th of July card.  For my sentiment I used on of the stickers and adhered it to a doily that I made on the Silhouette.  Both cards were made in minutes!

Wednesday Some Odd Girl Coloring with Pencils and Gamsol

Happy Wednesday!

I love to color!  I think my obsession started as a little girl and I never gave it up.  When I first started to color again in my paper crafting I started out with pencils.  Then the craze of alcohol markers swept the coloring world and I have to admit I jumped on the band wagon.  Don't get me wrong- I love my Spectrum Noir markers BUT I still love my pencils and will NEVER give them up!!  You can achieve awesome shading with the pencils and quite frankly I think they are easier to use- just my humble opinion.

Some Odd Girl is having and entire week devoted on how to color your SOG images.  There are so many wonderful ways to color and you are going to want to check them all out HERE

So for my tutorial I am going to use Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol.  Here is the final image of Sneaky Boy Tobie!
Isn't he just the cutest?   I just adore him.  He reminds me of my Jack!  Evey part of this image has been colored with Pencils.  To see how just click on the video below.
I would love it if you stopped by the Some Odd Girl blog and left a little love over there.  I would appreciatte it TONS!  Thanks!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I am taking the day off tomorrow but I will be back on Friday with a new Moxxie card sketch and 2 inspiration cards.  See you then!  Have a wonderful and crafty day!

Tuesday Some Odd Girl July Digi Release

Happy Tuesday!

This week Some Odd Girl is releasing some brand new digi cut files.  I am in LOVE with these new digi files because you can do SOOOOOO many fun things with them.  I wanted to use them in a non traditional manner to show the diversity of these cut files.

The first set of cut files are rectangular and there are arrow, chevrons, and triangles. The rectangular shape is just perfect for a base of a card.  I used the triangles for this one and I decided to take the cut file and cut it out and then use it as a mask for my card.  I placed it on my card base and used some Studio Calico mist to create my background.  I then added Sneaky Boy Tobie and stamped my sentiment.  Love how this turned out!  (Tune in tomorrow for a video on coloring your images with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol!)
The next set of brand new cut files are circular using the same arrows, triangle and chevrons.  Again I wanted to use the cut files in a non traditional way.  I cut the circle out and instead of attaching it to a circular card base I used it on a scrapbooking layout.

Monday Splash

Happy Monday,
Did you have a nice weekend?  We did.  I had 2 tennis matches and then I just literally hung out on the couch with my family.  The weather was rainy and we just hung out and watched movies.  It was so awesome!!  I am not usually a lazy type person but sometimes it feels so good to be lazy.

I am still scrapping last year's vacation and several weeks ago I actually had some time to scrap for myself.  I had just visited Archiver's and picked up a couple sheets of the Fancy Pants summer collection (I have forgotten the name of the line- sorry).  I really loved it and I wanted to try out the "nautical look".   I also broke into my stash and used a little bit of everything- elle's studio tags, little yellow bicycle stickers, etc.  It was really fun!

For my project I combined two different collections - Basketball and Tennis I stuck pretty close to the skeetch but I did add a few things ( a large star, and smaller stars all scattered around).

So let's get hopping.  Here are the Moxxie Muse's links.  Simply hop to ALL the blogs and Leave a Comment. Don't forget the final stop- The Moxxie Blog and leave a comment there.

So have I mentioned the Giveaway?  This month one winner will win ONE ENTIRE COLLECTION of their choosing from the Moxxie store.  Isn't that just so awesome????  I know!  It totally rocks!  So I know you are going to have fun today!

The hop starts today and the winner will be announced Wednesday July 10th, 2013 on the Moxxie blog.  Good luck!

Happy Wednesday!

How is your week going?  So far so good here!  I have started the yearly task of going room by room and tearing it apart and cleaning and pitching!  I started in Jack's room yesterday and hopefully will finish today.  It looks so good.  I need to go out today and buy a bookshelf for him to keep his books that he has started reading.  Then after organizing this room I move on to the next room.  I generally have about 5 loads of stuff at the end of the cleaning to give to the Goodwill.  I love purging!!! It feels so good.  LOL!!!
