Tuesday All Star

Happy Tuesday!

Wow, I know the summer is coming to a close.  Jack started 1st grade camp this week.  This is a 2 week summer camp to jump start them for 1st grade.  He was so excited to be back at school!  He said he can't wait to find out who is 1st grade teacher will be.  Oh, I could just eat him up!!!!  I am so thrilled that he is excited to go to 1st grade!

Today I am sharing another Jillibean Soup layout that I made for my Guest DT spot.  Jack loved his summer soccer team this year.  He wasn't really thrilled about the games but he loved practice.  These were a couple of shots I got of him in his practice. To create the stick banners I cute out the pattern paper and used a tooth pick for the pole. I thought they came out cute and then for the star I cut out the star on my Silhouette and used the negative space.  I then outlined the star with some Jillibean twine.

I hope everyone has a great day today.  I will be back tomorrow with a new card.  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful and craft day!

Monday MME Challenge

Happy Monday,
Did you have a great weekend?  I sure did!  Saturday I met my friend at Archiver's and we did a morning and afternoon crop.  It was wonderful.  During the day is MUCH better for me to crop than at night.  I am just not a night person but boy can I get a lot done during the day!  I got done 4 projects!!! That is a record for me!  Sunday was just family day with going to the pool, riding bikes and playing outside and then grilling out dinner!  You couldn't ask for anything more perfect.  I wish every day we could have the weather that we did on Sunday- sunny- warm- high 82 degrees and just perfect in the shade!!

Well, My Mind's Eye had another fantastic challenge and I just had to have some fun.  Every once in awhile I like to scrap things that aren't events- birthdays, holidays etc.  and this challenge was calling my mind because it was perfect for my scrapping itch and I soooo wanted to play with my new collection of Nostalgia.  Oh do I love this collection.  It is so yummy!  Anyhooo  here are the details of the challenge:

Details: This one is super fun. Tina Walker came up with the idea. She suggested it to me and I thought it was *fabulous*. It's called Halfway There.Did you know that July is halfway through 2012? EEK! Can you believe it? So the challenge is this....document it. Document the actual day (day 183) halfway through the year, document the month...document it however you interpret it.

So my take on the challenge was to capture a "typical" day (day 185) in our life.  Our life isn't very exciting but that is the way we like it.  So this day:

1.  Jack had a dentist apt at 7:30
2.  Our attic fans were installed-- aaahhhhh our house is now cool!
3.  Grocery store
4.  play time outside
5.  night bike ride with dad
6.  night night!!

Here is my take on the challenge:

I used my Silhouette to create the title.  I stacked several layers on top of each other to make it look like chipboard.  I then cut it out a final time in the pattern paper!

Everything is My mind's Eye!
Silhouette

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I will be back tomorrow with a new project.  See you then!  Have a wonderful and crafty day!

Social [Media] Butterflies Blog Hop

Happy Sunday,
I am popping in today to take part in a fun blog hop today with a fun bunch of girls from Social [Media] Butterflies.  I know Shay, the creator of this wonderful group, from our local scrapbook store and she invited me to join the group this month.  It really is a fun time.  The purpose of this group is really to spread inspiration.

This months theme was to pick something that inspired us from all the sneak peeks from CHA Summer and make a project that was inspired for the sneak peek.  This was sooo easy for me because there were so many wonderful   new products to choose from.  I had 2 really fun embellishments that I fell in love with and they were both from Studio Calico.

The first one are the new poloraid film die cuts.
Die Cut Polaroid Frames - Studio Calico
Aren' t these just awesome?  I just love them!!  I love the words or images in them.

The second are the new wood veneer word bubbles.
SC Wood Veneer- Speech Bubbles
Oh I just love these.

So for my layout I decided to make my own versions of these new products using my Silhouette and I have to say I love how they turned out!

I am NOT very techy but it really was easy to create these poloraid film die cuts.  I was very pleased with my self.  To add to them I colored the love and hear with some copic markers to match the paper.  I also had some paper that had a wood grain feel to it and I added some words to my speech bubble images.  Very easy peasy!    I did add some real wood veneer shapes just for fun as well.

supplies
paper- authentique
stickers - authentique
alphabet- lily bee
wood veneer- studio calico
stamp- hero arts
ink- hero arts, tim holtz distress inks

Now we would love for you to hop along with us here.  You can even win some prizes!  Shay has 2 HUGE goodie bags from CHA and she is going to pick any TWO people who hop along with us.  There are many ways to enter:

Friday with JIllibean

Hi and Happy Friday!

Are you ready for the weekend?  Any fun plans?  I am pretty excited for Saturday.  My girlfriend and I are meeting at Archivers and we are going to crop all afternoon!! I am so excited.  Since my local store closed I haven't been able to socialize crop and scrap.  Hubby is taking the kids to visit his mother and I get to play.  So excited!! Sunday we don't have any plans.  Hopefully a bike ride or the pool!

This week I had an awesome surprise!  I was surfing my favorite blogs and I came across my debut at Jillibean Soup.  I knew I was going to have my work on this summer but they didn't give me an exact date.  So needless to say I was thrilled when I saw 2 of my 5 projects.

My first project was with Macho Nacho Soup,  I loved this masculine line and it was perfect for my guys.  I had the perfect picture of my three guys taken at the Columbus Zoo.  I really wanted to layer all the different pattern papers and embellies.  I just love the background paper.  So perfect!!

I hope everyone has a very fun weekend.  I will be back on Sunday with a VERY fun blog hop with some friends from Social (media) Butterflies.  This is a group of ladies that get together once a month and share some work.  This month the project was to create a layout that was inspired by the new products at CHA.  I will give you a hint at what inspired me- Studio Calico's poloraid film frames..  So if you would like to see my layout and hop along with some talented ladies join us on Sunday.  You could even win some brand new CHA goodie bags!  See you then!

Have a wonderful and crafty weekend!

Thursday Moxxie

Happy Thursday,

This week is flying by!  We have been so busy!  Have you been getting your crafty time in? I have been really getting my groove on and I am working on so many upcoming projects!  I really love working ahead but then I don't get to show you what I am working on till November-- Yikes!!!

Moxxie has some of the best themed collections.  Fish Stories is filled with wonderful papers and embellishments for the fisherman.  My best friend's husband is an avid fisherman.  These are photos of her husband with his big catch.  I can't believe the size of that Trout- boy that is big!!  I asked my friend if I could scrap these photos and she had been waiting for the perfect paper and I told her I had it for her!

I loved the fish background paper.  I first misted it with some Mister Huey just to give is a more distressed look.  I then created a frame using my sewing machine.  I then made a banner and placed it in the center of the paper and then started layering my paper along with the embellishments.

supplies
paper- stickers- Moxxie
clothes pins- michael's
tags- who knows????

Thanks for stopping by today.  I will be back tomorrow with a new project.  See you then! Have a wonderful and crafty day!

Wednesday Kite Tails

Happy Wednesday,

For my 2nd July post over at Kite Tails Designs I made a card sketch and I used the Luck O' collection.    The sketch is very basic and can be interpreted a lot of different ways.  That is the fun of a sketch. Right ???
Here is my take.  The Luck O' collection is very fun and I love the little cut out tags.  I used one of those for my sentiment.  I then added some bling with the emerald brads!

Tuesday Adventure

Happy Tuesday,

Oh I know for many of you summer is still under way.  Being a teacher I need to start getting back into school mode.  Last week I found out that I am going to be moving rooms (which is a good thing) so I went back into school to start boxing up my stuff and clearing out the new room.  I can't believe I only have a couple of weeks left of summer vacation.  Where has the time gone????

Cord Scrapbook Studio gave me the Aboard kit to work with from Studio Calico.  I must say I had so much fun working with this collection.  I wanted to try making a 12x12 background using my silhouette and then using some of the negative space with the pattern paper.  As soon as I saw the hexagon background I bought it.  I am a little late to the game with the hexagons.  It usually takes me awhile to try something new but I really love the shape!

This layout is of our Florida vacation from 2011.  We always do one new thing and last year we took a boat ride to the famous Cap's Restaurant.  This restaurant has been around since the 1920's.  Al Capone used to run his bootleg licour here.  My parents went to this restaurant on their honeymoon.  It was really fun and the boys really loved the boat ride.  It was a true adventure!

Thursday with Moxxie

Happy Thursday,
A couple of weeks ago Jack had a birthday party to go to and I needed to make a bag and tag.  I knew exactly what I was going to do.  I was going to get out my Moxxie Midway Madness and create a fun tag and gift bag.

For the tag I cut out my tag using my Silhouette and then I added some of their die cut punch outs and then added a banner and stamped the happy birthday sentiment.  I then added some ribbon and some bling.  Very simple and very fun!
I then took a plain white gift bag from Michael's and added some of circles cut out and randomly placed them on the bag, and finally I placed some border strips on.  I then attached the tag and jack was set!
I just love it when my crafting supplies come in so handy for other projects!  Don't you?

supplies
bag and tissue paper- michael's
paper, die cuts, stickers- Moxxie
ribbon- who knows????

500 Posts - A Giveaway and Basic Grey

Happy Wednesday,
Wow , I just can't believe that this is my 500th post.  I started my blog 2 years ago and I have had a super fun time every day!  I want to say Thank You to all my followers and people who stop by every day and leave such kind comments.  You all are really really the best.  You totally make my day when I read the wonderful comments.  I thank you so much!!!! So for all you I have some giveaways that will be going on for the rest of the week.

Today's giveaway is 2 packs of Flair

There is a new company called Paper Play Studio   and the Flair buttons are so fun. (I am getting nothing from this company I just like the flair!)  I have been including a little bit of Flair on my pages lately. So if you would like a chance to win there are a couple of ways:
1. follow my blog and let me know in the comments
2.  leave a comment

I will  have another little giveaway on my Facebook page later today!  Do you like Jillibean Soup??? Well, head on over there later today to see the fun giveaway!

Now for today's project! As I was reading some blogs the other  day I came across another fun challenge.  Basic Grey has a challenge going on to include a doily on your project.  I hardly ever use doilies and I thought this would be fun for me.

Once again I broke into my stash (can you see I have been trying to clear out my stash) and found the fun birthday collection.  I made 2 doilies using my Silhouette.  There were so many to pick in their store.  Since I don't usually use doilies on my boy pages it was really fun checking out the store.  I fell in love with so many.

I love this photo of Michael as he was trying to blow out his candles on his cupcake cake.

Tuesday July Imaginisce Challenge

Happy Tuesday,
As I mentioned last week, I have had some free time to scrap just for myself.  I have used this time to really have fun with some of my older products that I haven't used.  One of them is my big stash of Imaginisce paper.  It has been a long time since I played along with Imaginisce but this challenge was calling my name!  The challenge is to create a project that has a Sun in it or the word Sun or Sunshine.  I knew I wanted to use my Berrylicious collection.  It is so bright and cheery!

For this layout I started with this cute photo of my hubby and youngest son.  I also wanted to use this cute poloraid photo frame from the Silhouette store.  I backed the negative space with some of the scrap that I had from the Berrylicious collection.  I misted my paper and then started layering all the different pattern pieces.  For the sun I used my Silhouette and cut the sun out of the yellow pattern paper.  I then used the Elle's Studio stamp to add some dimension to the center of the sun.    I then used some of the fun embellishments that I had with this collection- chipboard and die cuts.  I also added a couple of the Elle's Studio Summer collection tags- they really worked perfectly with this layout!

Supplies
cardstock- bazzill
paper, chipboard, die cut, stacker stickers- Imaginisce
stamp- tags- Elle's Studio
flair- flair for buttons

twine- the twinery

Monday Kite Tails

Happy Monday!

Did you have a great weekend.  We did here!  We didn't get the much needed rain but it did cool off a bit.  Thursday was our wedding anniversary.  We really didn't do anything but Friday my mom watched the kids and we went to the Fraze, an outdoor concert area, and we saw Ambrosia.  Remember for those of you that were around in the 70's the pop music- How much I feel, Your the only woman and Your the Biggest part of me!  I just loved roller skating to them!  Well we went out to eat and then went to the concert.  It was so much fun!  Ambrosia was awesome!  Loved it.  Then on Saturday and Sunday  we just hung out at home and relaxed and played with the kids!

Last week I was up over at Kite Tails Designs.  I had a tutorial on misting and masking.

Have you every tried making a mask using your Silhouette?  Well, it is really fun and very easy!  For my layout I used the Kite Tails Luck O' collection and I wanted a mask that had a sort of Celtic feel.  I found a Celtic Knot design and cut that out to a 12x12 size.  Here is a close up. (Sorry about the shadow)
I then placed this mask on my white cardstock in a box and sprayed my mist.
I let that dry and then made my layout.

I wanted the mist darker in the top right and lower left .  I really had a fun time making my own mask!  Try it some time.  I think you will really love it!

Supplies
cardstock- bazzill
Everything else is Kite Tails Designs- Luck O'

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I will be back tomorrow with a new project.  Also you are going to want to be sure to check back here later in the week because I am going to be having a blog celebration with my 500th post!  I am so excited.  I will give a hint- Flair! My new favorite embellie!!! You are not going to want to miss a minute!

A Friday MME Challenge

Happy Friday!

Are you ready for the weekend?  I know we are here. We are finally supposed to get some rain today.  I am so happy!  Our poor lawn is burnt out- my flowers have died, and it is just horribly dry.  I hope we get a soaker today and tomorrow.  fingers crossed!

As I have mentioned I have had some free time this week and have been able to scrap just for me and for fun.  It has been so wonderful.  Whenever I have some free time I love to enter some challenges to get my mojo flowing and I found a really fun challenge over at My Mind's Eye.  The challenge was to create a Monochromatic layout using their products.  Well, I just went to Archivers this week and picked up some of the Indie Chic collection and all the colors are in this gorgeous blue and I had my colors.

For this layout I chose a neutral kraft cardstock as my base and then started layering and adding embellishments in the blue tones.  I love how it turned out.  The photos were taken of Michael on a hike at Cox Arboretum.  I cut the photo frames using my Silhouette

Thursday Sketch with LYB

Happy Thursday,

This week over at Cord Scrapbook Studio I was up for the sketch of the week.  For this you had to create or use a sketch to create a layout.  Since I love to create sketches I used on of my own. I had several photos that I wanted to use for this layout and so I picked this sketch because it had 4 photos on a single page layout.  Love that!
For my layout I used the Little Yellow Bicycle Escape collection.  This collection is perfect for all your travel photos.  When we were in Florida this summer we took a dinner yacht cruise thru the intercoastal waters of Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach and Hillsboro.  We all had so much fun.  The boat was beautiful and the weather was just perfect.  I love all the embellishments that come with this collection.  I had never used the clear transparencies before and I just loved them.  My favorite were the little clear Polaroid photo frames.  I thought they were so cute and just perfect for my smaller photos of hubby relaxing and a cool nature photo of a pelican flying away with a HUGE fish in it's mouth.  I also LOVED the flags and banners and the chipboard Fun-O-Meter.  They were the perfect embellishments!

Monday Start to Finish Home Decor Item

Happy Monday,
Did you have a nice weekend?  We did.  Saturday we had family over.  The weather was terrible- sunny and 103 degrees.  This is way too hot for me.  I stayed inside. LOL!  Sunday I was able to get some crafting time in.  I have a little bit of a break from commitments and I am starting on some scrappin' just for myself.  I love this!!

Last week I made a home decor piece with the Moxxie Hometown Celebration collection.  Several weeks before I had made another home decor piece for Cord Scrapbook Studio.  I used the Little Yellow Bicycle Hello Spring Collection.

1.  I used the Build a Flower kit from LYB.  Everything is already cut and ready for you.  All you have to do is assemble them.
hs-305_400pxls.jpg
2,  Next I picked up some straws at the Dollar Store and some floral tape.  I wrapped floral tape around the  straws starting at the bottom and working your way up to the top.  These will create the stems of the flowers.
Here is a look at the stem almost done.
Here is a look at all my stems with the flowers.
Next put a huge glop of hot glue on the back of each flower.
Place your steam in the center of the glue and put a dab of glue on top.

Here is a look at the all the different types of flowers.  Let these dry and it is time to start making the baske.
3.   I created my floral basket using my Silhouette. It is a Lori Whitlock design.
I glued it together using my glue gun.  I used a sheet from the Hello Spring.
4.  Next I bought some floral foam from the dollar store and cut is so that it filled the bottom of the floral basket.

5.  Now that the flowers are dry cut the bottom tips off the flowers just like you would a real flower on a slight angle.  This will make it easier for you to insert the straw- steam into the foam.

Add some leaves to the flowers and glue those on and place arrange the stems and flowers into the basket.
6.  I made a label for the front of the basket and stamped it using my Hero Arts stamps and some bling.  You always need a little bling- right????
7.  I bought some floral moss to add to the basket to cover up the basket so that you don't see any of the floral foam
Fill in any gaps with the floral moss.
Here is the final project.  Isn't just the cutest?  I just love it.  The perfect flower arrangement and these won't die! LOL!!
Supplies
Everything but the label is Little Yellow Bicycle.
label- Paper trey Ink
stamps- Hero Arts
bling- Hero Arts

I hope you enjoyed this Start to Finish Project today.  I will be back tomorrow with another new project.  See you then!

Have a wonderful and crafty day!

Friday Blog Hop

Happy Friday Everyone!!

Today I am here with the Scrapbook Steals July Blog Hop!  Have you ever visited the Scrapbook Steals  website and blog?  I found them about 7 months ago and I was instantly hooked.  This is the best place for Scrapbooking supplies !  Every day they have a special deal on a certain product.  That sale price is good for just 24 hours.  There deals are sometimes 20-75% off the retail value.  I LOVE a good bargain.  I have bought so many of my favorite products from Scrapbook Steals like October Afternoon, My Mind's Eye, Echo Park, and much much more.  They also have a wonderful blog that is filled with scrapbooking ideas.

So when Kristy asked me if I would like to be a part of the July blog hop featuring the Fancy Pants Design Ribbon Bundles I quickly said YES!!!    I was fortunate to receive the Fancy Pants Beach Babe Ribbon Trim.  I so loved this collection.  I fell in love with it as soon as I received it.  I couldn't wait to start working with it.

Thursday with Jillibean Soup!

Happy Thursday!

Did you all  have a wonderful day yesterday?  I hope you did!  We really had a wonderful time!  Total Relaxation and no Stress!  Loved every minute of it.  Now I have to start preparing for our the Siehl family party for Saturday.  Today on the agenda is cleaning the house.  Oh do I HATE cleaning the house! Oh well I need the house looking great for Saturday.

Last May I was the guest Design Team member over at Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker and I made my favorite home decor piece- a message board.  To see that project go HERE .  Well my friend saw this and wanted one for her family.  I told her I didn't have the same supplies but I was certain I could come up with another one that would be fun and useful for their family  So I went shopping in my supply stash and came up with the PERFECT collection for her message board that went along with her color scheme in her kitchen.  Jillibean Soup's Neopolitan Bisque Soup.  I loved this collection.

The glass makes the perfect dry erase board and I just put a couple of messages up there to show you.

Supplies
Everything is Jillibean Soup
Frame- Michael's

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July Everyone,

What are you doing on the 4th?  I am happy to say we are doing NOTHING!! We are staying at home and just hanging out with the 4 of us.  With the 4th falling on a Wednesday the family didn't want to do a big party because everyone has to work the next day so we are going to have our big family party at our house that we host every year on Saturday.  So today it is calm and relaxing.  We may go bowling- yup our family is totally addicted!  LOL!!

Today I have for you another home decor piece using the wonderful Hometown Celebration colletion from Moxxie!  Last year I made my first banner (click HERE to see it) and I have been wanting to make another one because I had so much fun.  I have to say I am totally addicted and our mantel is perfect for hanging these wonderful creations.

Here is my 4th of July Banner!

Close ups!  You can see here that I cut out two identical letters - same size and then glued the darker color down first.  I then pop dotted the kraft color letter and placed it slightly off center.
I also used my sewing machine to go around each banner piece.  I just love to sew on my projects.
I used one of the large stickers for the space between Happy and 4th.  I also cut out all the stars from one of their pattern papers.  I love to get the most out of my pattern paper and create my own embellishments!
I cut everything out using my Silhouette Cameo!

Supplies
cardstock- bazzill
paper and stickers- Moxxie

Thanks so much for stopping today.  I hope everyone enjoys this wonderful day with Friends and Family!  I will be back tomorrow with a Jillibean Soup home decor piece.  See you then!
Have a wonderful and crafty day!
